SUMMARY:Explore Seismology during AAAS Family Science Days
DESCRIPTION:Create an Earthquake and Explore Seismology! \n\nBe a seismic
detective and answer these questions: 1) Did any earthquake
s happen around the world today? 2) Where do most earthquake
s occur? 3) Where do you think the next earthquake will occu
r?\n\nExcited about physics\, math and Earth science? Come expl
ore real-time earthquake locations and learn about the dynam
ic nature of the Earth. You can also see how scientists use
seismic waves to image the Earth's interior – from the sha
llow subsurface to the core. Be sure to ask about everything
seismologists do – from probing the Earth for fuel source
s to studying earthquake hazards.\n\nVisit the IRIS display an
d a wide range of other hands-on science at the American Ass
ociation for the Advancement of Science's Family Science Day
s!\n\nThe event will take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on bo
 th Saturday\, February 16 and Sunday\, February 17\, 2019.
