SUMMARY:Planning for the SZ4D Initiative: Faulting and Earthquake Cy
 cles
DESCRIPTION:Pre-Registration is required to join this webinar presented
by the SZ4D Faulting and Earthquake Cycles Working Group:\n\nh
 ttps://washington.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0sfumhqzIpH93Hi
 LnyZSYhWrzlUMIPRDu5\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a c
onfirmation email containing information about joining the m
eeting.\n\nPlease join us for a one-hour informational webina
r and dialog about the Faulting and Earthquake Cycles effo
rt in SZ4D. Meet the members of the Working Group and recei
ve an update on the path and progress of this Working Group
to define the key elements of a new integrated program on ea
rthquakes and fault systems in subduction zones. You will al
so have an opportunity to ask questions and offer suggest
ions and guidance to the Working Group. \n\nThe SZ4D\, or Su
bduction Zones in Four Dimensions\, effort is a research-comm
unity driven initiative in the US to investigate the proces
ses that underlie subduction zone hazards. An NSF-funded pl
anning group is now working to map out a potential decadal-s
cale program in integrated science of subduction and seeks
wide community input. Within SZ4D\, three Working Groups h
ave been convened so far to address major areas of interest:
\n\n	Faulting & Earthquake Cycles\n	Magmatic Drivers of Eruptio
n\n	Landscapes & Seascapes: Surface Processes and Subductio
n\n\nThis is the second in a series of three Friday webinars f
rom SZ4D throughout the month of June. The final webinar w
ill be June 26 and will focus on Landscapes & Seascapes:
Surface Processes and Subduction. View past webinars here.\n\n
There will be an opportunity for questions during the webina
 r. If you like\, you may also pre-submit a question for the w
ebinar using this form\, and we will try to address them du
 ring the session.
