DESCRIPTION:This session is designed to provide staff from each Texas Re
 gional Science Collaborative with both classroom activities
  and new scientific knowledge about earthquakes\, plate tecto
 nics\, and Earth's interior structure. Participants will lear
 n by experiencing and debriefing activities that explore the
  causes of earthquakes\, earthquakes and plate tectonics\, pro
 pagation of seismic waves\, seismographs\, earthquake location
 s\, statistics and earthquake hazards and local seismicity (a
 nd more). Curricular materials\, access to data and additiona
 l resources will be provided. Pedagogies modeled will includ
 e argumentation\, modeling\, and other hands-on approaches.
