SUMMARY:Webinar - Geoscience education research at the post-secondar
 y and professional level
DESCRIPTION:Geoscience education research is a broad field related to st
udies of teaching\, learning\, and cognition in the geoscience
 s. Within this subset of IRIS webinars\, we aim to introduce
our audience to geoscience education research\, provide examp
les of ongoing studies\, and open pathways for collaboration.
\n\nThis webinar will give a broad overview of the topics and
methods in geoscience education research and then discuss re
cent studies related to geophysics content\, instruction\, and
training of undergraduate and graduate students. Eric Riggs
will present on his study investigating the workflow and pr
oblem solving approaches of graduate students challenged wit
h interpreting seismic data. He will discuss the differences
between key groups in his study\, including geologists\, geop
hysicists\, and students with varying degrees of experience.
Clare Bond will present on the uncertainty in geologic inter
pretations of seismic data and imagery. She will tell us abo
ut what happens when there is no right answer and how we can
teach uncertainty in science.\n\nRegister at: https://attend
