SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Magnetotelluric Science Vignettes - SAGE MT Facilit
 y Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Please register for Magnetotelluric Science Vignettes - SAGE
MT Facility Webinar Series on April 23 at 2:00 PM EDT\n\nhttp
 s://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/265332352875546381\n\nDe
scription: IRIS is funded by the National Science Foundation
under the SAGE award to establish a new pool of portable m
agnetotelluric (MT) instruments at the PASSCAL Instrument Ce
 nter—which maintains equipment\, provides training\, and ass
ists in data handling and archival at no cost to Principal I
nvestigators. We expect to have both new long-period and wid
eband/broadband MT instruments available to potential users
by the end of 2020. The first webinar in this series provide
d an introduction to MT and described the nascent PASSCAL MT
facility.\n\nIn this webinar\, seven practitioners of MT resea
rch will present brief case studies which demonstrate how MT
is a versatile tool for investigating different facets of t
he earth system.\n\nPresentations:\n\n	Exploring Antarctic Subgl
acial Hydrology Using MT - Chloe Gustafson (Lamont-Doherty E
arth Observatory)\n	Characterizing Geothermal Systems with MT
in Three Dimensions - Jared Peacock (USGS)\n	Using Electrica
l Resistivity to Inform Hydrothermal Models - Jeff Pepin (US
GS)\n	MT for Mineral Resource Investigations - Paul Bedrosian
(USGS)\n	A MT and Seismic Investigation of Magma Storage and
Transport at Okmok Volcano\, Alaska - Ninfa Bennington (Univ
 ersity of Wisconsin)\n	Ocean-Continent Subduction\, Backarc Ex
tension\, and Upper Mantle Hydration Probed Using MT - Phil W
annamaker (University of Utah)\n	MT Insights into Unusual Lit
hospheric Properties in the Southeastern United States - Ben
Murphy (USGS)\n\nTogether\, these presentations will take abou
t 50 mins\, and afterwards the speakers will be available to
answer questions. We especially encourage attendees who are
new to MT or interested in combining MT observations with pl
anned seismic studies.\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive
a confirmation email containing information about joining th
e webinar. The live broadcast is limited to the first 500 at
tendees. All IRIS webinars are archived for later viewing at
