SUMMARY:Workshop on the Future of the Amphibious Array
DESCRIPTION:This two-day workshop will consider the future of the Amphib
 ious Array (AA) of onshore and ocean-bottom seismometers (OB
 S’s) currently deployed as the Cascadia Initiative (CI). 
 \n\nThe workshop will have two primary goals: \n\n(A) to evalua
 te the ongoing Cascadia Initiative deployment of the AA\, whi
 ch will have completed 3 of 4 years by the time of the works
 hop\, and (B) to make recommendations for the type\, size and 
 scope of future scientific studies using the AA\, identifying
  critical scientific targets and recognizing the capabilitie
 s of the AA. \n\nThe first goal will be achieved through emph
 asis on technical or logistical reports that assess the curr
 ent operations and instrumentation of the AA\, addressing iss
 ues such as instrument performance and data quality\, the per
 formance of OBS’s deployed in shallow waters\, and integrat
 ion of on-land with offshore operations. Understanding this 
 performance will be needed to help define the scope of futur
 e deployments. The second goal will be achieved the through 
 a series of community recommendations to emerge for future d
 eployments\, considering critical scientific targets at a var
 iety of scales and durations.  Planning will focus on the E
 arthScope footprint and the period through 2018\, although lo
 nger-term plans will be discussed
